ALEXA, F35, file-based workflows - these are among the technologies and terms that are being talked about during this 2010-2011 Fall TV season. But what is the current state of the art? And what is on the horizon? Many companies and individuals—some on the record, others on background—shared their insights for this report.
“TV demands two things more than ever: Lower costs and very fast turnaround,” summed up Gray Ainsworth, Senior VP, Operations for Deluxe Digital Media. “The digital cameras allows people to shoot a lot of footage, and that footage has to be processed in a very shot time.” Jennifer Tellefsen, VP, Broadcast Services, Ascent Media Television, added that, "TV budgets have started to flatten, following dips over the past few years.” Read the full story

Nathan Adams of CET explains how they got involved with the film The Social Network
The team at CET is one of the industry's leading tapeless workflow experts. Its Archive Station system was recently used to manage all video workflow for the David Fincher feature "The Social Network'. I caught up with their Production Technologist Nathan Adams on the day before our Entertainment Technology Expo where CET will be having a booth. I talked to him about tapeless workflow on set, but what I did not know was that one of David Fincher's technology experts met up with Nathan at Createasphere's 2009 Expo, and that meeting led to CET being hired to supply the film "The Social Network" with their tapeless work flow solution.
