rodewebcastWe hear a lot about what TV shows or movies are using the Canon 5D Mark II or about the latest Lumix firmware hacks but what we don't hear enough about is the audio part of the equation.

The on-board sound capabilities of most HDSLR cameras shooting motion is limited. But, as with all cameras, dual system sound is always an option. But what are the pitfalls or advantages of recording audio for HDSLR?

This webcast will answer these questions and more. Aaron Murphy, Audio Supervisor for shows like Top Chef, and Rode Microphones and Tim Smith from Canon USA are going to be on hand. Aaron Murphy has been working in television since 1994 and now trains and hires other crew members to work in reality TV. Rode Microphone's VideoMic is a popular solution as an on-camera mic, but their expertise is not limited to on camera solutions and their perspective will be a valuable addition to this program.

Attend the live webcast and participate in the Q and A to make sure your questions get answered. Like all our free webcasts this one will be archived for later viewing but only to those who register.

Topics to be covered:
  • Range of solutions based on style of production
  • Life without timecode
  • Workflow
  • Third party solutions

I researched the claim that person made that the latest firmware will disable the AGC, and it's not true.
Here's what Cannon said to me:

You did hear a rumor, but there is no truth behind it. There are
currently no plans to disable AGC.

We have forwarded your suggestion to disable AGC through our Customer
Feedback process. This process allows us to capture important feedback
from our customers. As we constantly strive to improve our cameras,
suggestions are vital to our continued success.

Thank you for writing to us with your feedback. Please let us know if
we can be of any further assistance with your EOS 7D.

    Thank you for choosing Canon.

    Sincerely,

    Erik
