THE DAMMY AWARDS: MISSION

To create awareness of Digital Asset Management (DAM), promote creative and technical excellence in the field, and recognize the achievement in the DAM space.

 

The Third Annual DAMMY Awards will be held September 28, 2012.

 

Innovative organizations and individuals are breaking new ground in managing digital assets — creating new revenue opportunities, increasing security, and developing more efficient workflows to maximize ROI. Createasphere is recognizing these innovators at the Third Annual DAMMY Awards, presented during a special luncheon at the Digital Asset Management Conference on September 28, 2012 in New York. The DAMMY Awards will be presented in five categories including: DAMMY of the Year for the most forward-thinking individual in the field of Digital Asset Management; Best Storage, Archive, and/or Preservation Solution; Best Strategy or Solution for Digital & Media Asset Management during the Acquisition of Content; Best Example of Asset & Media Repurposing; and Best Strategy Ease of Use for End-User Interface. A panel of DAM experts who are professionals in their fields will judge the awards.


DAMMY AWARDS RULES AND PROCEDURES
This document, also referred to as the Rules and Procedures, describes the timetable under which the awards process will occur, defines each award category and its respective entry requirements, describes those who are eligible to receive an award, describes the specifications for submission material and describes all other rules and procedures.

September 1 - Judging ends & Finalists notified
September 27 - Digital Asset Management Conference NY begins
September 28 - DAMMY Awards ceremony

CATEGORIES & GUIDELINES:

The categories in which Createasphere may issue an award are:


I.   Outstanding individual who has positively impacted growth/success of the Digital Asset Management (DAM) industry globally: DAMMY of the Year.
There is no charge for this entry. The nomination must include a written (two page) explanation of why this individual should be nominated and give specific examples of where/how they have contributed to the Digital Asset Management community.

II.   Best Storage, Archive, and/or Preservation Solution.

This case study provides an example(s) of innovative hardware/software and/or workflow solution that has led the industry to rethink and/or redesign the domain by creating new solutions. The entry for this case study is $55 (US) and must follow the guidelines for entry.

III.    Best Strategy or Solution for Digital & Media Asset Management during the Acquisition of Content.

This case study must demonstrate taking DAM or related technology to streamline the acquisition process or pre-production stage (of content/assets). The entry for this case study is $55 (US) and must follow the guidelines for entry.

IV.   Best Example of Asset & Media Repurposing.

In this case study the nomination must be an organization or technology that has profitably demonstrated multi-use of assets to create additional revenue streams. The entry for this case study is $55 (US) and must follow the guidelines for entry.

V.    Best Strategy Ease of Use for End-User Interface.

This case study must demonstrate the ease of use for an end user in a DAM System interface reflecting an intuitive user experience. The entry for this case study is $55 (US) and must follow the guidelines for entry.

 

SECTION A: CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS & ELIGIBILITY


1. An eligible entry for the “DAMMY of the Year" must have the individual’s name and a written explanation and/or example(s) of how the outstanding individual contributed or has positively impacted the Digital Asset Management (DAM) community and its members. Web links cannot be utilized as examples.  The entry must be submitted in the .pdf format and be no longer then two (2) pages in length. The entry must include a summary of 100 words or less that is to be published on the Createasphere site prior to the DAMMY awards. All entries will be published after the awards ceremony. Based on the information received, three (3) judges will determine who the “DAMMY of the Year” will be. There is no entry fee. Only one entry per submission is allowed.

2. An eligible entry for "Best Storage, Archive, and/or Preservation Solution must be presented in the form of a case study and include the components of the challenge/problem, solution, implementation, timeline, examples and results. Web links cannot be utilized as examples. This can be no longer than 5 pages in length. The entry must include a summary of 100 words or less that is to be published on the Createasphere site prior to the DAMMY awards. All entries will be published after the awards ceremony. The entry must be submitted in the .pdf format. Entry fee is $55 (US).

3. An eligible entry for "Best Strategy or Solution for Digital & Media Asset Management during the Acquisition of Content" must be presented in the form of a case study and include the components of the challenge/problem, solution, implementation, timeline, examples and results. 5. An eligible entry for “Best Strategy Ease of Use for End-User Interface” must demonstrate the ease of use for an end user in a DAM System interface reflecting an intuitive user experience. SECTION B:  SUBMISSION PROCEDURES

 

1. Entries may be submitted by any of the following individuals:
  • The Nominee
  • The Project’s Supplier, Vendor, Supervisor (Applicant)
2. The Case Study of work that is the subject of a submission is referred to herein as the “Case Study”. To be outlined with the following points.
  • Challenge/Problem
  • Analysis of Alternative
  • Solution
  • Implementation
  • Timeline
  • Example(s)
  • Results

3. Each entry must be accompanied by:

  • A completed submission form.
  • Descriptive Materials - as required with outlines in each category description in Section A.

(“DAMMY of the Year” submission is free.)

4. Online Submission forms will be available on April 2. Submission forms must be completed online in order to receive a submission number.

5. By completing an online submission form, an Applicant or Nominee states that they have read the Createasphere DAMMY Awards Rules and Procedures and have submitted an entry in accordance with all stated policies.

6. Please make sure that any e-mail or fax communication includes the correct submission number and that Createasphere receives it no later than the entry deadline.

7. Only one (1) submission per entry form is permitted. Entry forms containing multiple submissions will not be accepted.

8. Entries must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. PDT on the last day of the Submission Period August 2, 2012 indicated in the Schedule.

9. Viewing Material Submission Requirements and Rules - Accepted papers will be presented as either posters or oral presentations and will appear in the conference proceedings.

SECTION C: NOMINATIONS & JUDGING


1. Submissions are considered complete if all the requirements as stated above in each category are met. Complete submissions qualify for nominations of the specified category.

 

2. All judging will be conducted by three (3) judges. Each judge is a volunteer and is judging on the basis of their agnostic capabilities.

SECTION D: DAMMY AWARD WINNERS

The winners of each category will be announced at the Createasphere Digital Asset Management Conference in New York on September 28, 2012 during the Conference luncheon. The winner of each award will be presented with a DAMMY Award, and the accepted material (Case Study) will be promoted by Createasphere following the Conference.
