What’s Coming and Where Are We Going?

The Post Production Master Class.
Even as the economics and the mechanics of production and post-production change – in many cases radically – content continues to be created, manipulated, managed and distributed. There are stories to tell and content pipelines to fill. In fact, the sheer volume of content is growing at a dizzying rate. From snowboarding videos with a million YouTube views, to theatrical features in 3D, to broadcast and cable programming, to studio-built web series all the way through the restoration and archiving of entire libraries, our industry is engaged in an incredible array of activities around content. This growth has been accompanied by tremendous opportunities, such as the easily deployed tools available in a democratized technological environment (think of free or nearly free color grading tools.) It also comes with tremendous challenges, such as managing incredibly sophisticated workflows. There is a need for those at work throughout the content ecosystem to remain informed and connected so they can become aware of new opportunities as well as new solutions.
As recently as 10 years ago, the landscape was radically different. The deployment of digital cameras, professional and prosumer, was growing, but film production was prevalent, and distribution was limited to broadcast and theatrical. Watching a video on a phone, playing a game on an iPad, or downloading an entire array of sophisticated applications simply were not options. Not so today. From file-based management of content to a variety of capture devices and a proliferation of post production tools, we are all required to understand and integrate a sophisticated digital technology kit into our thought process.
Createasphere has developed the Post Production Master Class to put smart people in the room with other smart people – to discuss the hot button topics, look at experiences and projects, and share important information. A look at the schedule for the Post Production Master Class next week in Burbank reveals an impressive collection of expertise and brain power devoted to the topics that keep us all up at night: How does the workflow between the set and the cutting room impact both? What about the onslaught of on-set tools? What’s going on in color space and management? What is the big picture? And, of course… how do you help a dolphin tell his tale?
Take a look at the speaker lineup below and consider making time to gather with some of the most innovative, interesting and experienced men and women working behind the scenes to make and deliver content. It’s a rare opportunity to put your thinking cap on, jump in the conversation and connect. I hope you will join us.
